"yeah, bands are playing tonight." we fer real thought these kids were fucking with us. but they welcomed us with ice cold cans of Beast ICE, squirrel shaped cookies and mystery vegan jawns. it was a birthday party for this girl that lived there named Katrina. friends brought presents including beer and pizza, me and joe show up with two twisties of the dankest. she and her roomates were some of the nicest kids i've ever met, they blaze tree and put on shows at their home which they call Big Rock Candy Mountain. it's an old soap factory converted into a loft/living space. the floor had a huge hole in it where a gigantic vat used to be. bands rocked the fuck out that night in the basement below the hole. we were bummed that OCDJ bailed on the gig, but fuck it! i was stoked to see Future Islands and Tron Valdez. the Celebs killed it, contrary to joe giving them only half a thumb's up. hater. tiff and her friend evidently live blocks away and joined us for some psychedelic future shock dance action. those girls are silly as shit.
